Yoga and Meditation In UK Prisons

The next APPG meeting will be on Monday 8th July 2024 from 5-6.30pm on the subject of yoga and meditation in UK prisons. The meeting will consider a new report, which will be presented to the government, being led by Professor Rosie Meek from the Department of Law and Criminology at Royal Holloway University of London.

The purpose of the meeting is: -

· To highlight the importance and role of yoga and meditation in prisons (across the youth and adult secure estate);

· To develop a model for effective partnerships between prisons and community organisations in order to improve understanding of, access to and engagement with yoga and meditation in prisons;

· To summarise the evidence base and identify gaps in the evidence base;

· To develop a set of good practice principles and recommendations on yoga and meditation in prisons.
